Description of tools
The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) are open to all areas of research and innovation foreseen by the EU R&D framework programmes, from basic research, to commercialization and to researchers of all ages and skill levels, whatever whatever their nationality.
The fields of research and innovation, as well as the sectors, are freely chosen by the applicants in a way
completely bottom-up.
MSCAs are open to researchers and innovation personnel in universities, research institutes,
research infrastructures, companies and other socio-economic actors in all countries, including third countries
under the conditions defined in the regulations. Attention is given to encouraging strong participation of
businesses, especially SMEs, for the implementation and impact of CSIAs
Since Horizon 2020, the program has become biannual; some calls could only be offered every two years
Focus on Individual Fellowships (MSCA-PF)
The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) are individual grants aimed at researchers of any nationality who wish to carry out a research project within the framework of international mobility, in order to acquire new skills and develop their careers.
Note on MSCAs
Mobility is an essential condition for the MSCAs. The gender dimension is addressed in all the MSCAs. Equal opportunities must be ensured, both at the level of the researchers supported and at the level of decision-making within the projects. In order to further improve dissemination and public engagement, beneficiaries of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions are required to plan outreach activities tailored to the general public.
